Layers or tiers?

servings and sizings.jpg

Most of our cakes are 3 layers making them about 6" tall per tier,  unless ordered otherwise.

In the example photo, the 4 inch cake on top shows the 3 layers of cake filled with two layers of icing or filling.

The stacked cakes are called tiers.  In this example, this would be a 6 tier cake with each tier having 3 layers of cake,

Supporting the cake tiers.

Our tiered cakes will have plastic and/or wooden supports in them.  Supports are necessary to keep the cake stable.  They should be removed as you cut the cake.

How much cake will I need?

This drawing shows the approximate number of servings for each size. Exact number will be determined by the size of each serving.

Wedding servings and younger children's servings are usually cut small while party sizes are usually cut larger.

For a single non tiered cake, choose a size cake round closest to the number of servings you want.

For a tiered cake just add up the number of servings to see which sizes will work best for you.

You might want leftover cake for yourself or your guests, so keep that in mind also!

We will be glad to help you make your decision.
